Established in 2005, Targa West was founded with the vision of bringing the exhilaration of tarmac rallying to Western Australia. Over the years, our organisation has evolved into an iconic entity, hosting some of the most significant motorsport events in the region.
Our Evolution
In 2023, we embarked on a new chapter by rebranding and renewing our organisation as Tarmac Events WA. Under the auspices of the Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA), we continue to set the standard for motorsport excellence in Western Australia.
Having blossomed from a single rally in 2005 to a dynamic portfolio of events, today we proudly organise a diverse range of Rallies, Rallysprints, Sprints, and Show N Shines, catering to motorsport enthusiasts of all levels.
Tarmac West: The Epitome of Motorsport Prestige
At the heart of our endeavours lies Tarmac West, a prestigious motorsport rally event that stands as a testament to our team’s dedication and passion for the sport. This event showcases fully prepared rally cars, racing against the clock on closed public roads. Held over multiple days, it unfolds in the picturesque landscape of Perth and its surrounding areas.
Since its inception, Tarmac West has garnered a fervent following. We have proudly welcomed a total of 763 competitors supported by thousands of dedicated volunteers, and enthralled more than 20,000 spectators with spectacular displays of tarmac rallying each year.
Tarmac South West: A Decade of Excellence
Since 2010, we have also been the driving force behind Tarmac South West, an event that has seen over 450 competitors compete on its challenging stages. This event is a testament to our commitment to expanding the reach and impact of tarmac rallying into the regions.

Rallysprints: Where Enthusiasm Meets Competition
In 2010, we introduced Rallysprints on Thursday evenings at the Perth Motorplex. Inspired by the spirit of evening yachting on the Swan River, we created an opportunity for car enthusiasts to revel in their passion on balmy summer evenings.
Today, up to 90 crews enter each round relishing the friendly competition and camaraderie they offer.
Additionally, we’ve extended our footprint with regional rallysprint events held annually in Albany and Bunbury. These one and two-day events not only attract up to 120 crews each year but also bring high-level competition to the regional motorsport community, leaving a positive impact on the local economy.
